VSU Helps Shine a Light on Autism

Blue fountain for autism awareness

In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, Valdosta State University participated in the Autism Speaks Light It Up Blue campaign by changing the lights of the West Hall fountain from clear to blue.

The blue lights symbolize a world-wide effort to raise awareness of autism spectrum disorders, advocate for the needs of individuals with autism and their families, and fund research into the cause, prevention, and treatment of the disorders in the hope of someday finding a cure.

According to statistics from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, around one in 68 American children are on the autism spectrum.
