VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University’s Department of Math and Computer Science will host its sixth annual Computing Adventures @ VSU computer science camp for rising fourth through seventh grade students from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22-26. The weeklong camp is designed to introduce students to computer science and allow them to explore advancements in technology.

Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to create Android smart-phone apps using App Inventor, a programming language developed by Google and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They will also build and program robots using LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robotics kits.

Dr. Krishnendu Roy, professor of math and computer science and coordinator of the camp, expects the camp to fill up quickly. “We cap camp enrollment at 20 students,” said Roy. “Currently 10 spots are available, so if your child is interested in attending the camp, please apply early.”

General admission is $225; this includes lunch, snacks, and a camp T-shirt. Need-based scholarships are available. Visit http://cscamp.valdosta.edu to register or learn more about Computing Adventures @ VSU.
